BTO BirdTrack – now the preferred way to report sightings of birds

British Bryological Society (BBS) – includes open access to identification guides to all British mosses and liverworts

British Mycological Society (BMS) – includes open access to identification keys to most of the larger fungi

iRecord – the Biological Records Centre service for recording observations of wildlife in the UK

iSpot – the Open University citizen science website where you can upload pictures of UK and Irish wildlife you cannot identify – others will often very quickly confirm their identity!

Yorkshire Moths – distribution maps of moths (macro and micro) throughout Yorkshire. Access is free – just create your own account, log in then start looking for species of moths (via the “Page Index”) and see their distribution in the county. A fantastically useful resource and regularly updated.

Yorkshire’s Wildlife – a catalogue of wildlife locations throughout Yorkshire.
