A cluster of Millstone Grit tors that dominates the local landscape. They are surrounded by a variety of upland plant communities such as dry and wet heath, birch woodland and acid bog.

About the location

The open heathland is dominated by heather, bilberry and wavy hair-grass. In wetter areas there is cotton-grass, deer grass, purple moor grass, crossleaved heath and Sphagnum species.

Plant specialities include the only site for Petty Whin in the HDNS area plus Chickweed Wintergreen at one of its most southerly British sites.
Pied Flycatcher can be seen and Holly Blue and Green Hairstreak butterflies are present, as are several moth species.
