Mixed woodland, including many Scots Pines, from which the site takes its name.
Parking
Car parks at RHS Harlow Carr, or kerbside parking on Harlow Moor Drive.
Access
Several footpaths run through the site between the Valley Gardens, Harlow Moor Road and Crag Lane.
Terrain
Level footpaths, including one with a tarmacadam surface. Easy access for all.
Habitat:
About the location
Woodland birds include Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Great-spotted Woodpecker, Goldcrest and Jay. There are nest boxes dotted around the woods, and also bat boxes. Roe Deer and Fox can occasionally be seen. In spring, the eastern end of the wood boasts a splendid display of Azaleas and Rhododendrons.
